Patient was educated on the importance of iron mineral as follows:
- Iron is an essential nutrient of human diet.
- Iron is required to produce red blood cells in the human body.
- Iron forms central part of hemoglobin in the red blood cells. Hemoglobin helps pick up oxygen from the lungs and transport it to the tissues.
- Once oxygen is delivered to the tissues, iron also picks up carbon dioxide from the tissues and transport it to the lungs for elimination.
- Iron is an essential part of many enzymes in the body that are needed for the biological functions and metabolism of nutrients.
