Patient was educated on Glucotrol and its mechanism of action as follows:

  1. Glucotrol is an oral antidiabetic drug, used in patients with type-2 diabetes.
  2. Glucotrol acts by stimulating release of more insulin from the Beta-cells of islets of pancreas.
  3. Glucotrol is mostly used in individuals with reduced insulin secretion and in individuals who are resistant to the amount of insulin they are currently producing.
  4. Increased insulin secretion by Glucotrol will lead to lowering of blood glucose concentrations
  5. Control of blood sugars over time with Glucotrol also results in lowering of hemoglobin A1c, which is an indicator of blood glucose control over the past 2 to 3 months.
