Patient was educated on different kidney functions as follows:

  1. Fluid balance
  • Kidneys help to maintain fluid balance in the body. If the body is deficient of fluid, kidneys help to reabsorb more fluid from the blood and saves the water for the body.
  • If the body is in excess of fluid, kidneys will help to excrete the excess fluid in urine, to prevent your body getting overloaded with fluid.
  1. Maintaining electrolyte balance
  • Excess or deficiency of essential salts and electrolytes, such as, sodium, potassium, calcium, and phosphorus can cause serious complications.
  • Kidneys by their function of reabsorption and secretion of electrolytes help to maintain a healthy balance of these salts in the body.
