Patient was educated on functional zones of respiratory tract as follows:
- Functionally, the respiratory tract is divided into the following:
- Conduction zone
- Respiratory zone
- Conduction zone includes all the structures that help in conducting the air breathed in through the nose.
- This zone comprises nose and nasal cavities, nasopharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, and terminal bronchioles.
- Respiratory zone includes respiratory bronchioles and alveoli of the lungs that help with exchange of gases.
