Patient was educated on flu prevention measures as follows:
- Have your flu shot regularly every year, to offer protection during the flu season, between October of the current year and March of next year.
- Frequent hand washing with soap and water is one very cost effective and easy method to avoid many common infections.
- Alcohol based hand sanitizers can be used as a substitute to soap and water for hand washing.
- Try to avoid crowds during peak flu season. If you are presenting with symptoms of flu, do not go outdoors until your symptoms are completely controlled, as you stand risk of transmitting the infection to others.
- If you are presenting with symptoms of flu, isolate yourself from kids and senior citizens in the family, as people in the extremes of age groups are highly susceptive to infections due to poor immune status.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you sneeze or cough.
- Discard the tissue into trash after use and not sit it on any household surfaces.
- Keep your windows closed during active flu season.
- Maintain air-conditioning in your house in good working status.
- Maintain appropriate humidity indoors.
