Patient/caregiver was educated on findings to report to your physician regarding COVID-19 as follows:
- Many people infected with the virus experienced mild to moderate respiratory illness and recovered without needing to be hospitalized and undergoing any special treatments.
- Some infected people experienced severe acute respiratory illness and consequent complications, necessitating hospitalization, oxygen supplementation, IV antibiotics, and other needed specialized treatments.
- Individuals with suspected or established COVID-19 infection must report to the physician and/or seek emergency advice upon presentation with any of the following symptoms:
- Trouble breathing or worsening shortness of breath
- Persistent pressure/discomfort/pain in the chest
- Acutely increased fluid retention in the body with abrupt weight gain
- Worsening pedal edema
- Persistent dizziness
- Acutely reduced urine volume
- Progressively deteriorating confusion
- Clouding of consciousness with inability to wake-up or stay awake
- Pale/bluish discoloration of skin, nailbeds, lips, and oral mucosa
