Patient/caregiver was educated on complications of dry skin development as follows:

  1. Dry skin is a self-limited condition and depending upon exposure to the trigger, can get periodically activated & be relieved at other times. Some individuals can continue to have dry skin throughout.
  2. Dry skin can result in flaky skin rash and tight skin that can intensely itch, depending on the severity of dryness.
  3. Drying up of mucus membranes involving mouth, throat, nose, and lips, can result in hoarse throat, nosebleeds, and chapped lips with cracking that can bleed.
  4. Persistent itching and scratching of skin can leave the skin raw and sensitive.
  5. Also, continued dry skin can also lead to activation of eczema, especially in individuals with history of inflammatory skin conditions.
