Patient was educated on Doxycycline and its mechanism of action as follows:

  1. Doxycycline is an antibiotic belonging to the family of Tetracyclines.
  2. This antibiotic is active against several bacteria causing urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases, acne, and many others.
  3. Doxycycline does not act against any viral infections.
  4. Doxycycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis in a wide variety of bacteria.
  5. These proteins are needed for bacterial division and growth.
  6. Inhibition of their synthesis by Doxycycline leads to killing of the bacteria, preventing their division and growth and thus, controls the infection.
