Patient was educated on Docusate and its mechanism of action as follows:

1. Docusate is a stool softener and emollient laxative, used to prevent episodes of constipation.
2. Docusate helps reduce the surface tension, by adding more water and lipid to the stool.
3. Addition of more water and lipid prevents hardening of the stool and maintains it soft.
4. Softening of stools help reduce the pain due to hemorrhoids and ease a bowel movement.
