Patient/caregiver was educated on sources of protein as follows:

  1. Protein is abundantly present in meat and meat products and available in comparatively low quantities in vegetable and plant sources.
  2. Animal sources for rich protein include red meat such as, beef, pork, lamb, and organ meats, such as, liver, brain, kidney. Turkey meat, chicken meat, & processed meats like sausage, bacon, ham, jerky, and salami are also considered rich sources for proteins.
  3. Animal and dairy products such as, eggs, milk, cheese, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, are also rich sources of protein.
  4. Sea food, such as, tuna, cod, halibut, sardines, tilapia, salmon, anchovy, dried fish, crab are great sources of protein.
  5. Various pulses, lentils, and nuts, such as, green peas, chickpeas, beans, walnuts, and pistachios are good vegetable sources for protein.
