Patient/caregiver was educated on sources of protein as follows:
- Protein is abundantly present in meat and meat products and available in comparatively low quantities in vegetable and plant sources.
- Animal sources for rich protein include red meat such as, beef, pork, lamb, and organ meats, such as, liver, brain, kidney. Turkey meat, chicken meat, & processed meats like sausage, bacon, ham, jerky, and salami are also considered rich sources for proteins.
- Animal and dairy products such as, eggs, milk, cheese, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, are also rich sources of protein.
- Sea food, such as, tuna, cod, halibut, sardines, tilapia, salmon, anchovy, dried fish, crab are great sources of protein.
- Various pulses, lentils, and nuts, such as, green peas, chickpeas, beans, walnuts, and pistachios are good vegetable sources for protein.
