Patient was educated on contraindications for using Abelcet as follows:
- Patients with history of antibiotic associated diarrhea must be cautious about using Abelcet. Discuss with your doctor regarding your history of the same.
- Abelcet is metabolized and excreted by the kidneys. Individuals with history of compromised renal function cannot metabolize and excrete Abelcet and this can lead to increased blood levels of Abelcet for longer duration, leading to toxicity. Abelcet should be avoided or used with extreme caution in such individuals.
- Abelcet intake can increase the risk for skin rash, ranging from mild to severe exfoliating rash and blisters. Individuals with history of extreme skin rashes should be aware of this response and observe a close watch on the same, while taking Abelcet.
