Patient was educated on contraindications for using Clearlax as follows:

  1. Clearlax has a high tendency to cause fluid depletion and dehydration. Caution must be exercised for fluid replacement and rehydration. Also, Clearlax is to be taken with a full 8 oz. of water. So, extra caution must be exercised while administering these laxatives for patients placed on fluid limitations, such as, individuals with congestive heart failure and renal failure.
  2. Clearlax usually is contraindicated in individuals with undiagnosed abdominal pain and cramping, as these complaints can deteriorate further with use of laxative.
  3. Clearlax is contraindicated in individuals with rectal bleed, as these individuals are at risk for exacerbation of this complaint with laxative use.
