Patient/caregiver was educated on the side-effects of using Claritin as follows:

Cardiovascular side-effects

  1. Claritin intake can slightly elevate the blood pressure and heart rate. The changes are minimal though and rarely can be an issue only in individuals with history of poorly controlled blood pressure and tachycardia. Individuals can present with signs and symptoms of elevated blood pressure, such as, episodes of severe headache, fatigue, confusion, chest pain, difficulty breathing, and pounding sensation in chest, neck, and ears.

Other constitutional side-effects

  1. Claritin use can result in generalized bodily symptoms, such as, headache, exhaustion, tiredness, generalized weakness, and fatigue. Most of the side-effects with Claritin intake can be self-limiting and resolve over a period of time.
