Patient/caregiver was educated on risk factors for cellulitis as follows:
- Injury to skin: Cellulitis can occur due to invasion of bacteria from any site of cut, burn, or scraping on the surface of skin. Even incision sites on the skin from surgery can get infected and lead to development of cellulitis.
- Weak immune system: Strong immune system usually contains and fights the infection adequately, before any complications develop. Individuals with history of weak immunity, such as, HIV and cancer patients cannot fight effectively against infections and so, are at increased risk to present with cellulitis.
- Senility: Individual immunity progressively decreases in seniors and thus, advanced age can be a serious risk factor for cellulitis.
