Patient was educated on measures to follow for low fat diet  as follows:

  1. Use herbs and spices, such as, lemon, black pepper, cilantro, cardamom, basil, cloves, cinnamon, cumin, ginger, garlic, mint, parsley, rosemary, and saffron for seasoning and flavoring foods. Avoid or observe moderation with seasonings rich in saturated and unhealthy fats, such as, sauces, butter, and margarine.
  2. While using sauce for flavoring your food, try using sauces low in fat content, such as, marinara sauce, sweet and sour sauce, or homemade barbeque sauce versus creamy white sauce, pesto sauce, or tartar sauce, which are high in fat content.
  3. Avoid consumption of deep-fried foods and snacks such as, egg rolls, fried meat dishes, cheese sticks, French fries, hash browns, hush puppies, potato chips, and plantain chips, as they can be rich in saturated and unhealthy fats.
  4. Choose soups made of lean meat and fresh vegetables. Try using low fat alternatives versus heavy cream, while making soups. Prepare all your soups a day ahead before consumption. Refrigerating them overnight and removing any extra fat that floats to the top the following morning, can help reduce consumption of unhealthy fats.
  5. Prefer having your vegetables, plain & fresh, baked or boiled versus fried, without any heavy cream added.
