Patient/caregiver was educated on precautions to be exercised while taking Vitamin B6 as follows:
- If you are prescribed Vitamin B6 for relief of symptoms of anemia, report to your physician regarding any continuing or worsening signs and symptoms of anemia, such as, shortness of breath, poor endurance and exercise tolerance, pale skin, fatigue, weakness, and general malaise.
- Oral Vitamin B6 intake, especially on empty stomach, can result in common general constitutional symptoms such as, nausea, vomiting, and burning sensation in the stomach. Taking dose of Vitamin B12 with a glass of water, after having some food or a snack can help avoid having unpleasant gastrointestinal symptoms with the medication.
- Your physician could change the dose of Vitamin B6, based on the relief obtained or any side-effects developed. So, maintain compliance with follow-up physician appointments, to update on the relief from symptoms. Be accommodative to the plan of dose changes, if need be, until you show an optimum response.
