Patient/caregiver was educated on precautions to be exercised while taking Vitamin B6 as follows:
- Do not take Vitamin B6 supplement, if you ever manifested any allergic responses to intake of the vitamin. Parenteral preparations of Vitamin B6 can contain aluminum and individuals with history of allergic responses to any preparations containing aluminum should avoid having administered parenteral Vitamin B6. In the event of history of an allergic response with vitamin B6 or any preparations containing aluminum, check with your physician regarding your safety with intake of Vitamin B6 supplement.
- Take the Vitamin B6 supplement at the same time, every day, to avoid forgetting the intake of medication. Taking the supplement at regularly spaced intervals help maintain appropriate blood levels of Vitamin B12 needed to derive the beneficial effects.
- Increasing the intake of food naturally rich in Vitamin B6, such as, meat, poultry, nuts, whole grains, bananas, and avocados can significantly help offset the symptoms of Vitamin B6 deficiency.
