Patient/caregiver was educated on precautions to be exercised while taking Adrenaline  as follows:

  1. Adrenaline can interact with many other medications, such as, diuretics, medications used to control heart rate like metoprolol, medications used to improve the heart function like digoxin, thyroxine hormone supplements, and increase the risk for complications. The action of Adrenaline with regards to cardiac performance can be potentiated by most of these drugs, resulting in significant increase in the workload on the heart and leading to extremely elevated blood pressure, heart rate, and arrhythmias. Significantly elevated blood pressure can lead to complications such as stroke. So, Adrenaline use must be avoided in individuals taking other medications that also stand a chance of increasing blood pressure, heart rate, and cardiac performance.
  2. Monitor closely and report to your physician regarding any worsening signs and symptoms of cardiac arrhythmias, such as, lightheadedness, dizziness, pounding heartbeat, chest pain, and headache, for a change in the dose or plan of care to be considered.
  3. Adrenaline use can result in narrowing of blood vessels in the renal system, contributing to reduced blood flow to the kidneys, decreased filtration by glomerulus, reduced urine formation and decreased urinary output. Closely monitor for urine volume and output and report to your physician regarding any progressively consistent decrease in urine volume. Observe compliance with periodical labs ordered to evaluate renal function.
