Patient was educated on precautions to be exercised while taking Naproxen as follows:
- Naproxen carries the risk of causing dizziness and confusion. One should stay away from activities, such as, driving and operating heavy machinery, until they are used to the side effects caused by Naproxen.
- Naproxen intake can result in photosensitivity and skin rash with blister formation. Avoid bright sunlight and tan parlors, while you are taking Naproxen. Using a sunscreen can prevent the risk for photosensitivity.
- Naproxen can sometimes result in ringing in the ears and hearing loss, especially, when taken with Lasix. Avoid taking this medication with Lasix to prevent this drug interaction.
- Do not abuse Naproxen by continuing to take the medication, even after the pain resolved. Naproxen carries significant risk for compromising renal function leading to renal failure.
- Maintain strict compliance with intake of Naproxen as ordered, with regards to dosage and frequency, to derive the benefit of the medication. The dose and length of treatment depends upon the medical condition, severity of pain, and response to treatment.
