Patient/caregiver was instructed upon therapeutic uses of Coenzyme Q 10 as follows:
- Coenzyme Q is a vitamin-like substance needed for the optimal function of many vital organs in the body.
- It is referred to as Coenzyme Q10 or Co Q10 or Ubiquinone.
- Coenzyme Q is normally produced in various cells of the body. When the production of Coenzyme Q is deficient, this can be prescribed as a supplement.
- Coenzyme Q helps with optimal utilization of oxygen by the cells of the body for their various functions, such as, metabolic needs, production of energy, cell growth, cell repair, and maintenance.
- Coenzyme Q helps various enzymes in the digestive process work optimally, to aid in the process of digestion.
- The body cells could be exposed to oxidative stress of harmful chemicals. These harmful chemicals could have gained access into the body from outside or produced in the body during the metabolism of various foods and drugs. These chemicals can grossly affect the function of vital organs, such as, heart, kidney, and liver. Coenzyme Q acts as an antioxidant, destroys these harmful chemicals, and helps protect the function of vital organs in the body.
