Patient/caregiver was educated on contraindications for using Rivaroxaban as follows:
- Rivaroxaban should be avoided in individuals with any active bleeding from any wound or surgical site. Using Rivaroxaban in such individuals can result in uncontrolled hemorrhage and blood loss.
- Rivaroxaban should be avoided in individuals with valvular heart disease and with prosthetic heart valves. Use of Rivaroxaban in such individuals carries a significant risk for clot formation and consequent embolism.
- Rivaroxaban should be avoided in individuals with history of active bleeding stomach ulcers. Using Rivaroxaban in such individuals can result in uncontrolled hemorrhage and blood loss.
- Rivaroxaban should be avoided in individuals with history of inherited or acquired bleeding disorders. Using Rivaroxaban in such individuals can result in uncontrolled hemorrhage and blood loss.
