Patient was educated on contraindications for taking Prandin as follows:

  1. Prandin is mainly metabolized in the liver. If liver function is deficient, the metabolism of these medications can suffer. This can lead to increased blood levels of the medication for longer periods of time, resulting in toxicity and severe side effects. So, these medications should be used with caution in individuals with hepatic dysfunction.
  2. Prandin is mainly excreted in the bile. Individuals with biliary disease cannot excrete this medication normally. Prandin can stay in circulation for longer time and can be toxic in such individuals. So, this medication should be used with caution in individuals with biliary disease.
  3. Prandin is contraindicated in individuals with history of seizures, as it carries risk of inducing seizures.
