Patient was educated on how to track the volume of fluid intake with heart failure as follows:

  1. Strict compliance with the fluid volume recommendation should be observed, as fluid limitations are placed on patients with advanced cardiac failure.
  2. One way to keep a close watch could be as follows:
  • Consider your maximum fluid allowance in a day is 35 fluid oz. which is about 1000 ml.
  • Try to have a one-liter empty soft drink bottle with you and every time you drink fluid, add an equal amount of water to the bottle. Once the bottle is full, it means that you have consumed the maximum daily allowance of fluid and that you should stop drinking any further.
