Patient was educated on the characteristics of heart beat as follows:

  1. Rate
  • This is the number of beats per minute. Usually, this number is at 60 – 100 beats per minute.
  1. Rhythm
  • This is the property of normal heartbeat, that shows successive heartbeats are evenly spaced out.
  • If the beats are unevenly spaced, this indicates an underlying rhythm problem, where the beats are being initiated from structures other than the natural pacemaker of the heart.
  1. Conduction
  • Conduction is the property of a heartbeat, that shows the natural progression of a cardiac impulse or heartbeat that is initiated in the natural pacemaker of the heart, through all the other structures of the heart, thus bringing on the contraction of heart and pumping of blood into the circulation.
