Patient was educated on the causes of deep vein thrombosis as follows:

  1. Heart Failure
  • Patients with heart failure can present with backup of blood in the venous system, as the heart muscle is weak and unable to pump the blood forward.
  • This accumulation of backed up blood in the venous system can result in clot formation.
  1. Varicose Veins
  • People with varicose veins have sluggish blood flow in these veins and consequently, are more prone for clot formation.
