Patient was educated on blood flow to the muscle of the heart as follows:
- The left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood out of the heart into the aorta.
- The oxygenated blood will be supplied through the arterial system to the various body organs.
- Like every other body organ, even the heart will need oxygen-rich blood to survive. Oxygenated blood is supplied to the heart muscle through arterial system called coronary circulation.
- Two major coronary arteries branch from the aorta, right and left coronary arteries. Coronary arteries branch off into smaller arteries to provide oxygenated blood to the entire heart muscle.
- The right coronary artery supplies blood mainly to the right side of the heart and the left coronary artery supplies blood mainly to the left side of the heart.
