Patient was educated on causes and risk factors for angina as follows:

Cardiac arrhythmias

  • Individuals with history of cardiac arrhythmias are at increased risk for blood clot formation, which can obstruct the coronary arteries, compromise blood supply to the heart, and lead to angina.

Loss of fluid volume

  • Any factors causing loss of fluid and blood volume, such as, bleeding, diarrhea, dehydration, hot environmental conditions with increased sweating, can contribute towards reduced blood supply to the heart and lead to chest pain and angina.

Sedentary lifestyle

  • Individuals with sedentary lifestyle are at increased risk for blood clot formation, which can obstruct the coronary arteries, compromise blood supply to the heart, and lead to angina.
  • Also, inactive lifestyle contributes to obesity, atherosclerosis, increased fat deposition in the coronaries and thereby, episodes of angina.
