Patient was instructed regarding management measures for varicose veins as follows:
- Losing some unhealthy weight and extra pounds can help reduce the pressure on the veins of the lower limbs and promote blood return from the veins to the heart. This contributes to prevent pooling of blood in the lower extremities, thus reducing the risk of developing varicosities.
- Frequent rest periods can help fight gravity and promote blood return, thus reducing the accumulation of blood volume in the veins and prevent development of varicosities.
- Wearing any tight fitting clothes around the abdomen, waist, and groin can obstruct blood return from the veins of the lower extremities, into the heart, thus increasing accumulation of blood in the veins of lower extremities. So, avoid wearing any abdominal binders and tight corsets, which increase the risk for development of varicose veins.
