Patient and caregiver were instructed on risk factors contributing to dementia development as follows:
- Advanced age
- Personal habits, such as smoking and alcohol consumption
- Family history of dementia
- Lifestyle factors, such as physical inactivity, poor social support, and social isolation
- Sensory deficits, such as poor hearing ability
- History of chronic poorly managed medical conditions, such as stroke, HTN, CHF, and diabetes
- History of psychosocial issues, such as depression and psychosis
- History of traumatic brain injury
- Vitamin D deficiency
- Chronic poor nutritional states
