Patient was educated on dietary sources of low phosphorus foods as follows:
- Phosphorus can also be added to your foods as an additive or a preservative.
- If one is prescribed a diet low in phosphorus or if ones’ renal function is compromised, caution should be exercised in watching for the phosphorus in foods, that is being added as an additive.
- Always, look for the phosphorus additives in the food items you buy.
- Use jelly beans and hard candy instead of chocolate and chocolate drinks.
- Use All-natural lean beef, pork, lamb instead of organ meats.
- Avoid yellow of the egg, eating just the white.
- Choose Lemon soda and ginger ale instead of dark colas and chocolate flavored drinks.
- Choose Sherbet instead of ice cream.
- Choose Low fat cream cheese and Swiss cheese instead of processed cheese, ricotta cheese, and hard cheese.
