Patient was educated on Vancomycin and its mechanism of action as follows:

1. Vancomycin is an antibiotic that can be given orally and parenterally.
2. Vancomycin is usually prescribed for complicated bloodstream infections, infections of the bones and joints.
3. Vancomycin works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis.
4. Inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis will kill the bacteria and inhibit further growth of bacteria.
5. Vancomycin is an antibacterial agent and does not act against any viral infections.
6. Vancomycin is also the drug of choice for antibiotic induced diarrhea and Clostridium. difficile diarrhea.
