Patient was educated on Neomycin and its mechanism of action as follows:

  1. Neomycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the class of Aminoglycoside antibiotics.
  2. This antibiotic is active against several bacterial infections.
  3. Neomycin does not act against any viral infections.
  4. Neomycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis in a wide variety of bacteria.
  5. These proteins are needed for bacterial division and growth.
  6. Inhibition of protein synthesis by Neomycin leads to killing of the bacteria, preventing their division and growth and thus, controls the infection.
