Patient was educated on Meropenem and its mechanism of action as follows:
- Meropenem is a broad-spectrum injectable antibiotic that is active against number of bacteria causing wide variety of infections.
- Meropenem is a Beta-lactam antibiotic that acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It belongs to a sub-group of carbapenems in Beta-lactam antibiotics
- Inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis will kill the bacteria and inhibit further growth of bacteria.
- Meropenem is an antibacterial agent and does not act against any viral infections.
