Patient/caregiver was instructed regarding side-effects to expect after receiving nasal flu vaccine as follows:

  • Administration of nasal flu vaccine can result in mild side-effects such as,
  1. Runny or stuffy nose
  2. Cough
  3. Sore throat
  4. Mild difficulty breathing
  5. Muscle aches
  6. Headache
  7. Low-grade fever with chills
  8. Nausea & vomiting
  9. Exhaustion & tiredness
  10. Loss of appetite
  11. Dizziness & confusion, which can contribute to fall risk
  • Most of these side-effects after receiving nasal flu vaccine are short-lived and resolve in a day or two. Report to your physician if these side-effects are severe and/or continue beyond 2 days.
