Patient was educated on precautions to be exercised while taking Janumet as follows:
- Maintain a log of every day blood sugar readings for comparative feedback, as to how well Janumet is helping to control the blood sugars.
- Take a blood sugar reading always before you take the dose of Janumet. If the blood sugar is too low, despite eating regularly and without skipping a meal, you can defer taking Janumet for that dose and notify your doctor regarding the same.
- Keeping a track of frequency of episodes of low blood sugars, despite eating regularly, can help your physician revise your dose on Janumet.
- Observe compliance with any regular lab work ordered, such as, renal function studies and hemoglobin A1c. As Janumet increases risk for acute renal failure, note for any reduction in urine volume and report it to your physician without delay.
