Patient was educated on contraindications for using Fluconazole as follows:

  1. Patients with history of antibiotic associated diarrhea must be cautious about using Fluconazole. Discuss with your doctor regarding your history of the same.
  2. Fluconazole is minimally metabolized by the liver and Fluconazole intake can lead to hepatic injury. Individuals with history of compromised liver function cannot metabolize Fluconazole and this can lead to increased blood levels of Fluconazole for longer duration, leading to toxicity. Fluconazole should be avoided or used with extreme caution in such individuals.
  3. Fluconazole is significantly excreted unchanged in urine. Individuals with compromised renal functions tend to retain the drug in the circulation longer, thus resulting in toxicity. Fluconazole should be avoided or used with extreme caution in such individuals.
  4. Individuals with history of seizures and hallucinations can present with exacerbation of these symptoms with Fluconazole. Fluconazole should be avoided or used with extreme caution in individuals with seizure history.
