Patient/caregiver was educated on cleaning and disinfecting various household surfaces for COVID-19 as follows:

  1. Clean and disinfect all “high-touch” surfaces, such as kitchen & bathroom countertops, tiled floor, tabletops, doorknobs, keys, toilet flushes, taps, phones, computer keyboards, medication containers, and pillboxes every day. Also, clean and disinfect any surfaces that may have been exposed to saliva, blood, urine, stool, and/or other body fluids.
  2. Always have disposable gloves on, when cleaning and disinfecting surfaces.
  3. Cleaning is done by wiping these surfaces using a clean towel moistened with soap and water or a hand sanitizer with at least 60% of alcohol in it.
  4. Disinfection can be done using a clean towel moistened with most commonly marketed EPA registered household disinfectants, alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol, or a home made diluted bleach solution with one-third cup of bleach in one gallon of clean tap water. While disinfecting the surfaces, be sure to allow the disinfecting agent to remain in contact with the surface for the required amount of time, as directed, which ensures the expected action of the disinfecting agent.
