Patient/caregiver was instructed upon therapeutic uses of valium as follows:

Anxiety

  • By depressing the brain and spinal cord, valium promotes dizziness, reduces activity, and alertness.  This can help to reduce excitability and relieve symptoms of anxiety in individuals with history.

Bipolar disorder

  • Valium can be used along with antipsychotics, such as, clozapine and olanzapine, for management of mild agitation and anxiety symptoms in individuals with history of mania and bipolar illness.

Panic disorders and dysphoria

  • By allaying the fears and calming down anxiety, valium can help with offering relief with panic disorders and dysphoric states.
  • Valium can also be used to calm the anxiety associated with pre-menstrual syndrome.
