Patient/caregiver was instructed upon therapeutic uses of doxepin as follows:
Schizophrenia and psychosis
- Doxepin can be used to control the agitation and anxiety and slowdown the racing thoughts associated with schizophrenia and psychosis.
Bipolar disorder
- Doxepin can also be used for management of agitation and anxiety symptoms in individuals with history of bipolar disorder.
Insomnia
- Relief from anxiety and promotion of relaxation with doxepin use can help with sleep induction and minimize sleep interruption. This can help individuals with history of insomnia.
