Patient/caregiver was instructed upon therapeutic uses of Oxazepam as follows:
Anxiety
- By depressing the brain and spinal cord, oxazepam promotes dizziness, reduces activity, and alertness. This can help to reduce excitability and relieve symptoms of anxiety in individuals with history.
Panic disorders and dysphoria
- By allaying the fears and calming down anxiety, oxazepam can help with offering relief with panic disorders and dysphoric states.
- Oxazepam can also be used to calm the anxiety associated with pre-menstrual syndrome.
Bipolar disorder
- Oxazepam can be used along with antipsychotics, such as, clozapine and olanzapine, for management of mild agitation and anxiety symptoms in individuals with history of mania and bipolar illness.
Muscle spasms
- As oxazepam depresses the brain and spinal cord, it helps with reducing and weakening the impulses reaching out to the skeletal muscles from the brain and spinal cord. This can contribute to reduced motor activity, relief of muscle spasms, promotion of skeletal muscle relaxation and rest.
