Patient was educated on the pursed lip breathing procedure as follows:
- Breathe in or inhale slowly through your nose at a normal steady rate and depth.
- Inhale for a count of five.
- Experience your chest wall rise and lungs fill with air during the inhalation process.
- Purse your lips together as if you going to whistle or blow the candles on a cake.
- Breathe out or exhale slowly and gently through your mouth, via pursed lips for a count of ten.
- The time spent for exhalation should be 2 to 3 times longer than the time spent for inhalation.
- Adjust the breathing rhythm and extent of pursing the lips to increase your comfort.
