Patient was educated on the pursed lip breathing procedure as follows:

  1. Breathe in or inhale slowly through your nose at a normal steady rate and depth.
  2. Inhale for a count of five.
  3. Experience your chest wall rise and lungs fill with air during the inhalation process.
  4. Purse your lips together as if you going to whistle or blow the candles on a cake.
  5. Breathe out or exhale slowly and gently through your mouth, via pursed lips for a count of ten.
  6. The time spent for exhalation should be 2 to 3 times longer than the time spent for inhalation.
  7. Adjust the breathing rhythm and extent of pursing the lips to increase your comfort.
