Patient was educated on measures to avoid allergens causing asthma as follows:

  1. Limit your outdoor activities during active pollen season to avoid exposure to the allergens and triggering of the allergies.
  2. Replacing carpet with wood floor or tiles will help reduce exposure to irritants and dust mites.
  3. Keep the windows closed during active pollen season, to avoid airborne pollen and weed making their way indoors.
  4. Maintain the air conditioner in good working condition, as it helps to reduce indoor exposure to airborne pollen and weed.
  5. Replacing blinds with washable fabric curtains will also help exposure to dust mites.
  6. Maintaining the humidity inside the home at an optimal 40% – 50% and regular cleaning of the damp areas in the kitchen and bathrooms, will help prevent growth of molds and exposure to mold spores.
  7. Having a pet indoor is not a good plan with you or any family member in the house having serious allergy conditions leading to frequent illness and morbid states. If you still have a pet indoor, maintain the pet clean and groomed with regular bath, compliance with immunization schedule, and visits to the veterinarian doctor.
