Patient was educated on measures to avoid allergens causing asthma as follows:
- Limit your outdoor activities during active pollen season to avoid exposure to the allergens and triggering of the allergies.
- Replacing carpet with wood floor or tiles will help reduce exposure to irritants and dust mites.
- Keep the windows closed during active pollen season, to avoid airborne pollen and weed making their way indoors.
- Maintain the air conditioner in good working condition, as it helps to reduce indoor exposure to airborne pollen and weed.
- Replacing blinds with washable fabric curtains will also help exposure to dust mites.
- Maintaining the humidity inside the home at an optimal 40% – 50% and regular cleaning of the damp areas in the kitchen and bathrooms, will help prevent growth of molds and exposure to mold spores.
- Having a pet indoor is not a good plan with you or any family member in the house having serious allergy conditions leading to frequent illness and morbid states. If you still have a pet indoor, maintain the pet clean and groomed with regular bath, compliance with immunization schedule, and visits to the veterinarian doctor.
