Patient was educated on different dietary sources of phosphorus as follows:
- Phosphorus is found naturally in both animal and plant sources.
- Phosphorus in the meat, fish, poultry and dairy products are more readily absorbed than plant sources.
- Animal sources of phosphorus include fish roe, organ meats, such as, chicken liver and beef liver.
- Dairy sources include milk, cheese, ice cream, and yogurt.
- High phosphorus beverages include, dark colas, such as, Coke and Pepsi, beer, and chocolate flavored drinks.
- Caramel and chocolate candy are also rich sources of phosphorus.
