Patient/caregiver was educated on risk factors for contact eczema activation as follows:

  1. Professional workers handling metals, such as, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, sheet metal workers, and construction workers increasingly expose themselves to gold, nickel, iron, and copper, and can be at increased risk for presentation with contact eczema. Individuals into the habit of wearing jewelry can also be at risk for contact eczema from contact with these metals.
  2. Hairdressers and beauticians are increasingly exposed to chemicals from cosmetics and are at risk to present with contact eczema.
  3. Workers doing hard labor cleaning floors and drains use a wide variety of chemicals like cleaning agents, disinfectants, bleach, and clog removers, which can be very strong on the skin, resulting in contact eczema.
  4. Workers in gardening and agricultural industry are at risk for contact eczema due to increased exposure to contact with plants such as, citrus/lime, parsley, poison ivy, poison oak, and many other.
