Patient was educated on measures to be taken to manage constipation as follows:
- Increasing the amount of insoluble fiber in the diet can add bulk to the stool and thereby, help in promoting the bowel movement.
- Observe compliance with daily fluid intake requirement of about 3 liters a day, unless an individual is placed on any fluid limitation, secondary to any cardiac conditions or dialysis dependent states.
- A cup of warm water early morning can stimulate the bowels to move and prevent constipation
- Having a cup of prune juice everyday can help promote easy bowel movements and prevent constipation.
