Patient was educated on fixed dose insulin as follows:

  1. In this method of insulin administration, a diabetic will take a certain set amount of insulin units at each meal.
  2. This dose of insulin is decided by the physician. For example, this can be 6 units at breakfast and 10 with lunch and 6 at dinner.
  3. These numbers will not change based on the blood sugar readings before the meal or the amount of food one eats during the meal.
  4. This method is easier for diabetics starting to take insulin. But, this method doesn’t take into picture the blood sugars before the meal and the varying amounts of carbohydrates consumed in a meal.
