Patient was educated on random blood glucose as follows:
- This is the blood sugar reading taken regardless of when you last ate.
- Several random measurements may be taken throughout the day.
- Random testing is useful because glucose levels in healthy people do not vary widely throughout the day.
- Blood glucose levels that vary widely may mean a problem. 79 – 140 would be a healthy range on this number for nondiabetics.
- A number between 140 and 200 would suggest a condition called prediabetes.
- A number more than 200 will be a diabetic range and the diagnosis can be established by performing further investigations.
