Patient was educated on random blood glucose as follows:

  1. This is the blood sugar reading taken regardless of when you last ate.
  2. Several random measurements may be taken throughout the day.
  3. Random testing is useful because glucose levels in healthy people do not vary widely throughout the day.
  4. Blood glucose levels that vary widely may mean a problem. 79 – 140 would be a healthy range on this number for nondiabetics.
  5. A number between 140 and 200 would suggest a condition called prediabetes.
  6. A number more than 200 will be a diabetic range and the diagnosis can be established by performing further investigations.
