Genitourinary side-effects
- Increased acetylcholine activity with Rivastigmine patch use can result in increased bladder contractions. Individuals can present with frequency of urination, which can contribute to fluid volume loss and hypotension. Proper hydration measures and compliance with fluid resuscitation recommendations can help with preventing fluid volume loss and episodes of hypotension.
Respiratory side-effects
- Increased acetylcholine activity with Rivastigmine patch use can result in contraction of bronchial smooth muscle, especially in individuals with history of asthma and COPD. Individuals can present with increased shortness of breath and emergency situations, secondary to exacerbation of breathing difficulty.
