Patient was educated on the causes of premature atrial contractions as follows:
- The following are some of the causes that can result in premature heartbeats. Sometimes they cause too fast or too irregular heartbeat which is obvious.
- Excessive intake of stimulants, such as, caffeine, tea, alcohol, and tobacco products.
- High levels of prolonged periods of stress without rest.
- Sudden changes with blood levels of salts, such as, potassium and magnesium.
- Damage to the cardiac muscle by a previous episode of heart attack or prolonged periods of poorly managed hypertension.
