Patient/caregiver was educated on contraindications for using Requip as follows:
- Requip carries the risk of causing and aggravating some underlying cardiac arrhythmias, leading to severe debility and death. Requip must be used with extreme caution in individuals with history of poorly controlled cardiac arrhythmias, with close watch maintained for worsening signs and symptoms of arrhythmias, such as, frequent episodes of fatigue, lightheadedness, near fainting, shortness of breath, chest pain or discomfort, and/or pounding heartbeat. Avoid using Requip concomitantly, along with medications that have a serious potential to cause or aggravate cardiac arrhythmias, such as, antidepressants, diuretics, and antibiotics.
- Do not take Requip, if you ever manifested any allergic response to intake of Requip. Discuss your history of allergic response to this medication with your physician, without fail.
- Patients with history of mood disorders, secondary to Requip intake, can experience deterioration and worsening of symptoms of mood disorders. Requip must be used with extreme caution in such individuals, with close watch maintained for worsening complaints such as, feeling low and depressed, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, gross appetite changes, impulsiveness, agitation, aggression, and suicidal thoughts.
